We are onto plastering now.. We have started our brown coat! It took us a bit to get the right mix down but we seem to have a great mix now and we are super happy with how it is going up. We are screening our clay slip and sand to 1/4 inch for the brown coat and keeping fiber lengths fairly short. Our mix going up on the lathe walls is thicker. The next plaster will be our finish plaster and where we can add some pigments for color :) A few areas like the lathe walls, arched doorways and cables will need second coats of brown coat to prevent cracking into the finish plaster.

I haven’t posted again in a while, we have been busy working on the house!!
We have put in our recycled bathroom sink, thanks Craig and Carol and our recycled faucets thanks Gord. Curt built a vanity around it and it will have an earthen countertop on it when we are done.. We are putting in a full sized tadelakt shower with a mini bath at the bottom. It will be beautiful!!

IS DONE!! Our wiring is all in, outlets, lights and switches all in and working. Yahoo another big step done! The wires are carved into the cob walls and will be mudded back over with cob before plastering. We did some channels with a circular saw with a masonry blade but it created ALOT of dust.. So we ended up using a claw hammer and a chisel and carved it out by hand
