Sierra decided to spend the morning at the local School where her great Aunt is the Grade One teacher. I was a bit nervous about the whole thing unsure if she would come back wanting to go to school. But it was a great learning experience for her!

She was happy to have her own desk and said she loved doing drawing and writing and her favorite was recess time. She learned some new sight words as well to add to her reading!

Sierra told me last night before going “Mom I won’t tell the kids how great homeschool is because I don’t want them to feel bad for going to school.”

She also told the class at the end “Thanks for having me, I would invite you all to my homeschool but I think it would be too many kids for my Mom :)

Amazing a class of 25 Grade 1’s!! Sure makes me grateful to be able to be home with the kids while they are young!

SO I wasted all that energy being worried that Sierra would not want to be homeschooled after seeing what school is all about.  When really she is so HAPPY with what we are doing as a family! So Thanks Mom for the pep talk and encouragement, it was a good learning experience for Sierra and a good letting go experience for me!

But I sure am glad we get to sleep in again tomorrow!!

The kids have been spending ALL DAY outside in this amazing weather. They are out before I can get them out of their jammies and then I have to drag them in for bedtime! They are LOVING all the free time and space to explore and have fun! Papa brought home some more farm kitties so Sierra is thrilled to chase, feed, follow them. The kids are all allergic to cats but Sierra seems to have outgrown most of her allergies, thank goodness! Here is a picture of Sierra with “Fireball”, she named him..

Our homeschool/natural learning is going excellent so far this month! Sierra is into her LEGO these days and is going to build a LEGO robot with Daddy sometime this fall. Ocean is happy to be outside playing, biking and just being 4 (almost 5!). We are not doing much for set curriculum this year since we will be travelling and we feel our experiences are life lessons enough! We are slowly putting our plans together for where we are going this fall. We are keeping a close eye on the rocky American economy since that will affect our plans some what!

Sorry we have been a bit slack on updating the blog we have been busy!!We took a trip in to Edmonton yesterday to MEC to get the kids some sleeping bags and a down jacket for Sierra. Its starting to get a bit colder and the girls wake up if the blankets fall off. The sleeping bags are AWESOME! We even got Indi a tiny one about 3 feet tall. They love cuddling up in them on their bunks!
We walked through West Edmonton Mall with the girls, they liked seeing the pirate ship, seals, pool and ice rink. What a huge place! I felt a bit overwhelmed with the insane level on consumerism.. We have really not had a need to buy much of anything lately so seeing all these people with bags and bags of stuff floored me! I walked into a few stores then turned around and walked right back out again! Curtis wanted to go check out the new APPLE store, he was glad he saw it, we were glad to leave the mall empty handed :)
We have been getting the trailer ready to go on the road, we had a toilet leak we had to fix, a missing vent on the stove fan, some lights that needed to be switched out.. We also ordered a new awning, ours is torn and in pretty nasty shape! It will be good to have a dry entry way! This week we will be putting the storm windows on and jacking the trailer up so the truck can tow it..
We are waiting for the part in the mail so the airbag in the truck can be deactivated this week. After a LONG process of getting it organized to be done, political government bs :) But if anyone else ever needs to do it, talk to us, we know who to talk to now.. Shelby, you got to hear all my rant on it, sorry!!
The biggest news NANA (My Mom) will be coming out for a visit Thursday to Monday, YAY!!! We are all very excited and counting down the sleeps! I get to drive the big truck in to Calgary to pick her up, I think I will be parking at the back of the parking lot!
Here is a pic of me Sierra took to add to the website

We are studying dinosaurs for homeschool with Sierra this year so we decided to take a family trip to the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller. Royal Tyrrell Museum – A Place of Discoveries Come and see the … It was amazing, we all learned to so much and had a blast!! We spent 4 hours in the museum exploring then went on our own interpretive  hike for an hour.. Sierra and Ocean were practicing being paleontologists on the hike. It was so neat to watch them exploring in such an incredible place! Sierra discovered some type of fossilized bone, we were not too sure what it was though, here is a picture.

We will most likely take a trip back to Drumheller again before we leave Alberta. Here are some pictures from the day! We got the girls each a little kit to dig out dinosaur bones from plaster. There are also some pictures from that, it was very cute and entertained them for 3 hours!!! They wore the swim goggles to keep the dust out of their eyes :)
