Sierra has been taking riding lessons on Star the Pony. We are using up the rest of her this years homeschool funds on horseback riding lessons. She LOVES it and is so comfortable and natural with the horses!
We are so happy on the land we are on. It is so beautiful and peaceful, full of animals, everything we would want in land. But is worth way more than we could ever afford!!!! We feel so blessed to have had this time there, it is such a jewel!
We have been having such an awesome time on the property where we are.. I have not been online much these days so it is hard to get the website updated! We LOVE LOVE the land where we are it is peaceful, beautiful, inspiring and full of life! We have been helping with calving season and there are now 4 calves on the farm! The first 3 went smoothly. The 4th born this Saturday was much trickier, the Mama Cow decided she wanted NOTHING to do with her calf and continually pushed it away, she was still hanging out with her yearling. Curtis pulled all his farming experience out and did an amazing job! The farmer who owns the land where we are is 92 and full of energy!!! He and I lifted the 100 +lb calf into the back of the truck. He leaned on it while I tied its feet. Curtis chased the Cow and yearling down to the barn, we split the yearling off then got the Cow into the head gate.. Curtis got in there and got the calf nursing. They are in the barn still together and as of last night she has accepted her calf and finally licked it and is allowing it to nurse! We are keeping a close eye on them cause they had a rough start! Calf 222 has affectionately been named “Blacky” by the kids. During the whole process on Saturday the kids sat quietly and watched with wide eyes! Being up here on the farm has been an incredible learning experience for us all. We are now sure we want animals when we get our own farm.. We are looking at some possibilities for land here on the island but are keeping ourselves open to whatever unfolds as the right thing for us. For now we have planted some seeds in our friends garden (Thanks guys!) and also have some bowes of veggies growing out front of the 5th wheel. Looks like we will be planting a HUGE garden on 19 acres starting on the long weekend.. Anyone who wants to come join us and help are welcome to their share of organic veggies at harvest time ![]()
Here are some pics..

Sierra is wanting to buy a pony with her school money next year so she needs lessons first, and we need land
She LOVES horses and both her and Ocean are very natural and comfortable riding them, so cool to see!!!
